((Posting again since I talked to you in person, and you answered my questions)) I attempt to talk with the spirits and find what all the fuss is about.

"I do not come to harm you or the tree, I am here to remove a blight that may have befallen this tree" I say in with a soothing tone in my voice. "How can one such as myself prove my good intentions to such honorable spirits as yourselves?"

"Please, I mean you no harm!" I yell, and put up all my arms. I will however actively attempt to avoid or parry any incoming attacks. For now, I will not counter-attack.

They still remain hostile, and try their best to swarm you to get you away from the tree until they're sure you aren't coming back.

Ok then, I will step sideways back to the physical realm and try to approach the tree that way

((Crinos currently, yes?))
You sidestep. Strangely, you find no tree where you saw it in the Umbra. You're several miles from the sequoia forest (you can see it in the distance), but have ended up in some sort of semi-residental area. Thankfully for you it is night, and no one is out at the moment...

Realizing that this isn't deep forest, I immediately shift to homid and conceal my extra limbs. I then go looking for the location where I think the tree SHOULD be.

There be... a house in that viscinity. Very odd here that the umbrascape does not reflect the scenery you see now...

I look for signs of any awake occupants, and quietly move inside the house if i find none.

Well damn. I step inside the house, close the door, step sideways, and hope for the best.

((Well, you aren't exactly familiar with that kind of thing...))
Anyway, you are very close to the base of the tree now... perhaps no more than five feet. The wyld spirits are still there, and seem upset to see you again. You have about two seconds before they mob you again--think quick!

((True, I may not recognize it as a burglar alarm, but I would still be familiar with the concept of sentries or guards, and as I was trying to be sneaky, I would at least perceive this as having "alerted the sentries" and tried to flee))
I shift back to crinos and leap into the tree, looking for Marks' item.
