Ulric will shift to lupus and head back to the city. Once he gets close to the city he'll shift back to homid and then walk to the park and look for any blood trails he may be able to follow.

There are a lot of dogs here now, with owners of course. The dogs sniff at you and growl, most avoid you. You don't see any really visible blood, but you smell... something. Hard to tell in homid.

Ulric sighs, "I suppose I knew it would come to this." He looks around for any place he might be able to make it through the whole change to lupus without being seen and having some crazed owner freaking out on him. Once he's in lupus he can just bolt if he needs to and then change back to homid.
3 successes on an awareness + perception roll to look for a place to change forms.

There's a grove of trees where the BSD's retreated to that's nearby. Still possible that someone is there, though. Could be risky.

Well, at least it would put him in the right direction. He'll move over there and look for any signs of blood. If he can't find any then he'll try to double check for people, then change to lupus.

You don't see anyone. It looks like it may have rained last night, also...

"Damn, that's gonna muck things up a bit..." Ulric takes his time changing, making sure he gets all the way to lupus, but still trying to be careful that he doesn't rend the veil by letting someone catch him changing. Once he's changed, he'll see what else he can smell in the air.

Smells like rain. Still, you pick up a slight musk of blood, and there are a few tracks. Large, definitely canine. Kind of fresh.

He'll stick in lupus and go with the above plan of changing back to homid only if necessary. He's gonna follow the tracks, doing his best to keep moving and keep from attracting too much attention. Hopefully anyone that sees him will just think he's a normal dog...

The path goes deeper into the forest, and comes out on the outskirts of a city. It's early enough in the day that there are people around. No one has noticed you, yet.

Will he be able to follow the trail at night? If so he's gonna try to find a place to hide out until it gets a little closer to dark and then keep following the trail.

Yeah, you can probably follow it by night.

Ok yeah, then he's gonna do this the safer way and hide out until it gets a bit darker out. Besides, if he's gonna go attack them and all then he'll probably have a better chance attacking them at night... unless they're naturally better at stuff at night... oh well, this is the current plan. No one said attacking a den of BSD's was a good idea in the first place. At this point he's starting to wish he had at least a little backup for this mission...

You follow the trail. It's pretty broken, but is actually decently easy to follow. After going through the woods and around a nearby town, the trail takes a sudden turn toward the hills. Your sense of direction tells you that you think you're kind of heading back toward your own caern.

Uh oh, this could be a problem if they've actually set up shop right next to us... I guess that's what I'm here to figure out.
He'll keep moving, a bit slower now, looking for any signs that he's getting close to their camp. He doesn't want to be barreling through the forest then just run straight into their camp on accident or anything.
