He contemplates trying to make himself change into a wolf but decides to stick with his current form for the time being. If he falls too far behind his father he'll change. He takes off running after his father.

You begin to fall behind, and find yourself less easy to navigate through the trees with your size... and he isn't slowing down for you.

He'll fall to all fours and keep running, all the while trying to visualize himself becoming smaller and more of a wolf to keep up.

You find the focus somewhere, and eventually you feel a burst of speed as you shrink and become a full-fledged wolf. You catch up to and surpass your father with ease.

(("Come on dad, how am I supposed to know where to go if you can't keep up with me?"))

He nips at your heels to urge you faster. (("The destination is irrelevant at this point."))

(("You're the boss.")) He starts running all out, picking his path through the trees at random, just so long as it looks like there's somewhere to run.

Eclipses takes a sudden detour, veering hard to the right. (("Looks like we might get dinner afterall! Smell that?"))

He'll veer right, then start sniffing the air as he runs. He was so occupied with his new speed that he had forgotten about some of his other new senses.

You smell something musky in the air... you've never smelled it before, but your instinct makes your mouth water at the scent.

He thinks about asking his father what the delicious scent is, but then decides that might interfere with the current hunt, and better to just follow his father's lead and wait and see what they find. He tries to keep up without making too much extra noise (avoiding those random dry twigs and things).

Good call. Your father stops abruptly, sniffing the air, twitching his tail with excitement. (("Alright, I want you to go to the other side of the herd, and chase them this way."))

(("Herd? Ok...")) He perks his ears up and tries to hear where exactly this herd is located. He'll start sneaking around, trying to give whatever it is a wide berth, until he can figure out where it is, and how far around he has to go before he can stop.

You can smell that you're close, and it isn't long before you can see them. It's a herd of about 15 deer, and you're just uphill from it. Shouldn't be too hard to sneak past them...

Now that he knows where they are, he'll take his time maneuvering around them so that when he chases them he can get them to run in the right direction.
